We look at the definition of influencing and how to set the right environment to influence effectively.
The influencer
We look at the common competencies of a good influencer in terms of style and behaviour and also explore some simple rules to apply when preparing to influence.
Influencing Styles
We look at the different types of influencing styles and discuss the situations where they would be most appropriate to use.
Practical Exercise
Utilising a case study the delegates gain the opportunity to practice and apply some of the influencing styles and techniques they have just discussed.
How to get a positive result
We explore in more detail how to gain a positive result. We explore influencing from the person being influenced perspective to ensure a win win situation. We also look at typical areas of resistance and the consequences when influencing goes wrong.
Communication
We look specifically at communication techniques to ensure the message is getting across effectively. The delegates will then be given the opportunity to practice these techniques via role play.
Decision Making
We look at effective decision making and ensuring that the interaction you have, secures a final outcome.
Feedback
Final wrap up and feedback to the group.
Objectives
Each delegate will have gained some practical advice and tips on how to be an effective influencer. They will have a good understanding of the end to end influencing process from preparation to the final decision and will have developed strategies for dealing with situations that may go wrong.
