This course is designed for people who want to improve their negotiation skills to help them achieve their business goals.
Course Content

What is Negotiation?
We examine the nature of effective negotiation and put it into context in a business world. We also discuss different negotiation situations.

The Negotiation Process
We provide a step by step guide to the individual elements of the negotiation process from initial preparation, to the subsequent follow up.

Preparation for Negotiation
We look at the key steps in negotiation preparation. This covers initial research, and the planning of your negotiation strategy.

Team Exercise
The delegates will be split into two teams and given a case study. From this they will conduct their research and prepare their strategy for dealing with the situation.

Steps to Negotiation
We look at a number of key steps to successful negotiation offering advice and tips on common dos and don’ts.

Negotiation Competencies
We look at effective Negotiation behaviour and competencies such as listening skills and the language we use. We also look at the importance of recognising and understanding body language.

Reaching Agreement
We provide useful tips to recognise when agreement has been reached and how to record any agreement where required. This includes identification of any follow up needed.

Final feedback to the group

Objectives
Each delegate will have gained a better understanding of the skills required to be an effective negotiator. They will have experienced the things that can typically go wrong in the negotiation process and have developed strategies to deal with them.
