What is a Business Analyst?
We look at the role of the Business Analyst from an operational project based role to one that is of a more strategic nature, influencing future change within an organisation.
Core Competencies
We discuss the core competencies required to undertake the role, focusing on softer skills such as communication, emotional intelligence and the power of strong influencing techniques
Practical Exercise
The delegates will be asked to define core Business Analysis activities and associated deliverables. They will also be asked to undertake a SWOT analysis of the BA role, particularly looking for areas of improvement.
Business Analyst Deliverables
We explore the most common Business Analyst deliverables and offer advice and tips on how to produce improved documentation
Practical Exercise
Utilising a case study the delegates will get the opportunity to produce a project terms of reference which will include their role and a strategy for dealing with the project they have been given. This encourages them to ‘think out of the box’ and highlight soft issues within the project.
Why does the Business Analyst Exist?
We look at the risks, in tangible terms, of not having an analyst on a project. We also explore the relationship between the Business Analyst and Project Manager and highlight why contention may occur.
Measurement
We look at how to successfully measure a Business Analyst including key performance indicators and performance management.

Final wrap up and feedback to the group.
